WELCOME TO A NEW AND EXCITING SCHOOL YEAR AT Thousand Oaks!

Hello TO Families!

The TO PTA is looking forward to the start of the 2025-26 school year, and we hope to see you on the first day of school at our Boo Hoo/Yahoo coffee and bagels meet up after drop off.  Stay for a few minutes to chat and mourn/celebrate the end of summer!

Separately, we know many families are scrambling to find after-school care this year and wanted to relay a few options that have been shared by members of our broader community in the event they are helpful.  We will keep updating our list if more opportunities are shared:

The Berkeley School is opening its afterschool program TK-6th students to meet the needs of local families in the community.  Information can be found here.  The program includes Spanish classes daily and movement/games/PE classes Mondays and Wednesdays.  Additional enrichment classes (carpentry, gymnastics, judo, maker/STEAM, hip hop, chess, etc.) are available for additional fee.

IFlip Gymnastics Academy (may have bus transit from TO if enough kids signed up)

El Cerrito Martial Arts (scroll down if website looks blank at the top; recommended by the family of a TO student who did not have a space in LEARNS and attended last year)

Albany Friendship Club - reportedly a few spots left for this fall; takes BUSD kids but no transport.

Berkeley Youth Alternative - located downtown and provides transportation from BUSD schools

Hummingbird Montessori Preschool - located across from Cornell school and offering pickup from Thousand Oaks. Open House Sunday August 23rd @ 10:00 am-12:30 pm. Visit the website or call Jeanne Devin at 510-375-1279.

Please note, PTA is not endorsing these programs–we are just sharing information!  Email Anna Connolly at president@topta.org if you have any other opportunities to share with the community or questions about the PTA.

The Thousand Oaks PTA is committed to building community, supporting academic excellence for every child, ensuring a safe campus environment, and advocating locally and state-wide for programs and policies to support our students’ success.
